National Archives in the news….the July 4 New York Times featured a full page high resolution image of William Stone’s 1823 engraving of the Declaration of Independence, provided by the National Archives. This engraving was reprinted in 1976 at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. The print of the Declaration of Independence was made from William Stone’s copperplate, completed in 1823 and now on display in the National Archives.  The copperplate is from Record Group 59 Records of the Department of State.  Download a high resolution print of the Stone engraving at
